KARIBU - WELCOME

"TUKO SAWA" (Swahili for We are Okay/We are Equal) is a practical and personal philosophy, that is grounded in the essential truth of life. We all humans, born on this planet and we share the same cycle of birth-life-death. We all have the right to be on this planet and therefore the first duty of care is to protect our shared home. We begin this by seeing ourselves in others (transculturalism). Acknowledging the humanity of the Other, activates the Golden Rule, because we will treat them the way we wish to be treated.

To extend the Golden Rule to the rest of Nature, we created a Tuko Sawa Society of Harmony Practitioners (SoHP), which was registered in Tanzania on the 19th of  August, 2023 to enable our work in harmonising peoples' perception and restoring reverence for Nature. Our goal is to spread what we call The Harmony Way, which is about ecological-correctness even when nobody is watching us. The Harmony Way uses a wider eco-lens that reveals how everything is interconnected, interelated and interdependent.

Our Core Values are HUMANITY - LOVE - UNITY.

OUR VISION

A world where everyone takes responsibility for their Personal Wellbeing;   (I am OK) and that of our shared Planet (We are OK ) TUKO SAWA.

OUR MISSION

Spreading the Harmony Education so we can rebalance perception, extend the Golden Rule to Nature and bring back reverence and joy.

WHAT IS HARMONY?

Harmony is an active state of balance as well as the feeling of being in tune with the world.

OUR STATEMENT

As humans, we harbour harmful perception about ourselves, believing that we are separate from Nature and can treat Nature as a bottomless pit to satisfy our needs. Instead of cooperating with Nature by taking in moderation and giving back to maintain biodiversity, we have caused a lot of damage to our world by aggressively taking natural resources and now we are endangering other species with mass extinction.

Most people have awareness about the impact of human actions on our planet and problems facing our only shared home, but many have adopted the avoidance mode; (the I don’t matter attitude!) or even perhaps, simply, I DON’T CARE! We believe that it is time to rethink our attitudes and care for our shared home.

Tuko Sawa is a great relational concept for restoring a healthy perception about ourselves, how we treat each other and our role on this planet. Tuko Sawa provides self-efficacy tools for activating the inner belief that everyone can and should do something about Climate Change. Our ultimate goal is to change people's perception to accept this moral duty of care for our planet. By spreading the uniting concept of Harmony, we beleive that many will begin to see and appreciate the inteconnecteness nature of life.

Harmony is about relating better and relating right because we are interdependent!

HOW TO PRACTICE TUKO SAWA?

Begin by seeing yourself in others!

This is the basis for any harmonious interaction.

It transcends cultural, racial, national, religious, ideological and other perceived differences by emphasising the ONENESS of humanity.

We are one species, gifted with diverse abilities, which enrich our great human experience.
