HARMONY: A Foundation for Wellbeing and Joyful Cooperation
Understanding the natural principles that keep life consistent and ordered, will help us RETHINK, REALIGN and live in Harmony, by choosing a life of MODERATION, INTEGRITY and being of service to others.
WHAT IS HARMONY AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW?
All life on earth is interconnected, interrelated and interdependent in an infinite chain of natural cycles. Each community of life takes and gives back into Nature in the great food chain, which is underpinned by moderating principles. Harmony is when there is a balance in these relationships of taking and giving. No one community should take more than they need, because by doing so they disrupt the balance and endanger other species, which also have a right of being on this beautiful planet. We depend on each other for our survival, and we are all made of the same matter that exist in rocks, minerals, soil, water, air and plants.
Ancients "read" and "listened" to Nature to maintain the right relationships that were consistent with how the natural world worked. Having this awareness of the bigger picture will also help us understand how to lead sustainable lives and protect the earth for our descendants just as our own ancestors did for us.
Harmony begins with how we view ourselves, how we treat one another and the world around us. All this requires us to consider the underlying relationships that keep things in their consistent order. Just as the billions of stars including our planet are regulated to move in certain paths without randomly crashing into each other, so too must we moderate our actions to achieve sustainable wellbeing for all.
In summary then, Harmony is a state of balance, but it is never static because there is always the collaborative actions of giving and taking. Consider how we charge our bodies; we must take in air (oxygen) but we must also give out air (Carbon dioxide). Just as in homeostasis that keeps our bodies at a consistent temperature, blood pressure, heartbeats etc, the natural world is also kept in a state of active balance by the essential principles, which were well known by ancient cultures. Balance is regulated by the right relationships at the right time.
To try and put Harmony in the centre of our collective consciousness, The Tuko Sawa Society has made it our duty to practice The GOLDEN RULE (“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”), by extending it to all other forms of life who share this wonderful planet we all call OUR HOME.
We have created 8 participatory lessons that explore HARMONY and the seven principles of ONENESS, DIVERSITY, INTERDEPENDENCE, GEOMETRY, ADAPTATION, HEALTH and THE CYCLES to show how they work in the natural environment and in human societies.
Focusing on our COMMON GOAL of building positive communities, we all have the ability to turn our different qualities and experiences into COMMUNITY CAPITAL. Together we can create co-operations that are strong and sustainable, with Nature at their heart. This is #HarmonyInAction!
